What to Expect

The vasectomy reversal is an outpatient procedure that is carried out under local anesthetic. It is done at Dr. Stanton’s office in a procedure room equipped with a Heerburg microsurgical operating microscope.

Vasectomy reversals typically take 1 ½ to 2 hours to complete, but you need to plan on being in the office for up to three hours. Patients typically report only mild pain and discomfort during and after the procedure.

The procedure involves making two small incisions on each side of the scrotum, isolating the vas deferens, then re-cutting and reconnecting the ends of the vas deferens using ultra-fine Prolene suture.
